Marissa Wu is a first-year student at the University of California, Berkeley. While she now calls the Bay Area home, Wu is originally from San Diego, California. She began drawing at age 5, and her favorite mediums to work with are oil, gouache, and ink. The aim of her work is to extract meaning from the mundane, elevating realism with stylized manipulation or fantastical elements. Her work has been recognized by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, San Diego Chinese Art Festival, Del Mar Fair, and Plutonian Shore. Outside of art, Wu also enjoys expressing herself through music and writing.
